How color change is done
You send one photo
One clean photo of your product in its current color.
You choose the new colors
Send HEX codes, Pantone values or sample photos for each color you want.
We recolor only the product
An editor repaints the product in each new color, keeping its seams, lighting, shadows and texture, and leaves the background alone.
Every color from one photo
One file per color, all from the one base photo, each checked by a second editor.
Why digital colorway creation beats booking separate photo shoots.
Shooting every product SKU costs thousands in studio fees and sample logistics. See how digital color change compares.
| Feature | Reframe Studio | Re-shooting Every SKU | Automated AI Recoloring |
|---|---|---|---|
| Production Cost | From $0.30 per colorway variant | $150-$500+ studio session per SKU | Subscription app fees plus manual cleanup labor |
| Texture & Shadow Realism | 100% preservation of folds, seams, and fabric weave | Authentic, but lighting varies between shoots | Flat plastic color washes that erase natural texture |
| Color Accuracy (HEX/Pantone) | Exact color matching to your official spec codes | Vulnerable to studio light shifts and lens falloff | Unpredictable algorithmic color guessing |
| Framing Consistency | Pixel-identical camera angle across all colorways | Difficult to reproduce identical camera positions | Often warps product silhouette during processing |
| Time-to-Market | Full colorway launch ready in 24 hours | Weeks waiting for physical samples and studio slots | Requires extensive manual correction |
| Scalability | 2,000+ variants generated daily at catalog scale | Physically constrained by sample shipment timelines | Low batch reliability on complex materials |

9 questions
A base image and color references such as HEX codes, Pantone values, or sample images.
Color-calibrated editing setups and reference-based correction. Lighting, shadows, and texture are preserved while maintaining true-to-life consistency.
Yes, multiple variations can be generated from one base image while maintaining consistent lighting, shadows, and texture.
Send a HEX code, a Pantone value or a sample image for each color. Pantone suits print and fabric, HEX suits screens. Name each color too (for example Navy, Sage), so file names and variants match your SKUs.
As many as you list. Send one clean base image and a color list, and we produce a variant for each while keeping the lighting, shadows and texture the same. Single is $0.30 per image, and Multiple (more than one area changed on the same image) is $0.70.
Yes. We recolor the surface and keep its texture, folds, highlights and shadow, so it looks photographed, not painted. Fabric, leather, plastic and metal all work. Very reflective chrome and glass are harder, so run the free samples first.
A sharp, evenly lit photo with clear detail in the shadows. Going from dark to light is the hardest change (black to white, for example), because a dark product has little detail to carry over. Send those as samples first. Where possible, shoot the lightest color in the range and move darker from there.
Yes. Tell us the part (for example only the strap, or the body but not the logo and trim) and mark it on a reference image. If the part has a complicated outline, we may recommend Multi-Clipping Path first, but you do not need to order it yourself.
That is Pattern Change (from $1.25), a separate service. Color Change swaps solid colors only and does not replace patterns or textures.
